French Kote

“Well I’ll buy it for when we take her in the big pool, but you can put her in the cute bathing suits when she’s in the kidding pool,” he decided, grabbing one of the floaty outfits. With his free hand he grabs Nina’s, bringing it up to his lips and kissing her knuckles softly. It’s a small gesture but it’s enough to say I love you, and of course he knows she knows this. Leading them up from the guy form earlier has their things already rung up and ready to go as soon as they pay. Ian smiles at the young kid, acknowledge him with a nod as he places the other items onto the register. Once everything is rung up, he slides his credit card through the machine and swiftly signs his name. Their helpful employee takes the two bags and adds it to the cart with their hammock and swing. The couple leads the way to the car as the young guy follows in their wake to load everything in the back. “Well that was five hundred bucks well spent,” he muses, “now off to get wine and pick up dinner.”

Nina smiled at the small intimate gesture, these were the reasons why she had fallen in love with Ian in the first place. When she stood with Ian she waited patiently while everything was rung up. Of course he paid, she didn’t even bother to ask if he wanted her to pay for it because he probably would have just scolded her about it being his responsibility and blah blah blah. Usually it was those part of the conversations she toned out knowing it was a hopeless fight. Quickly he signed his name and she watched them cart everything and they headed out of the store. “Five hundred bucks, not bad, given that the shoes I’m wearing cost more then that.” she grinned. “Don’t look at me like that, they’re comfy and they’re Jimmy Choos.” she rolled her eyes. “Wine and dinner then family time. I hope your sister doesn’t cry when she leaves, she did that one time after everything and emotionally I will end up sobbing so she isn’t allowed to.”

“We have room,” he reassured, relieved in that moment that an employee had come over to help them. The kid was friendly enough which made them both smile, taking the hammock box from him and offering to retrieve the box for the swing. “Thanks man,” Ian smiled, before being instructed by Nina to check out kiddy pools. “Just meet me over there babe,” he replied, padding off to look at small pools for the babies. There were a few options available as he scanned the shelves, pulling out a long box for a light blue blow up pool. It was long and little deeper so that they could also sit in it but perfect for Ella. Seeing as Liam wouldn’t be truly enjoying it quite yet, getting one that was a bit bigger was a better plan. “Yeah I like this,” he commented as his wife rounded the corner. Holding the box up he showed it to her, hoping it would get the mommy seal of approval. “Should we get a little life jacket or a raft for bear?”

“I don’t think we need a raft, it’s only a baby pool.” she laughed. “But if you want to get her one of those little baby float jacket things I’m sure she won’t mind. I mean I hated mine as a kid and always tried to wiggle out of it but if you get one of those suits she can’t get out of it.” she said pointing to the little suits that had the little tube attached to it. “Then again, that will cover up any of the cute little bathing suits I was planning on buying her.” she pouted. “Whatever you think is best.” she smiled

“No, we’re not,” he replied, knowing she was referring to a few people that had notice them entering the store. It wasn’t that he wanted it to be a bother however things with fans had been a little wild lately and he didn’t want the repeat of recent events. Nina led the way to the back of the store and the outdoors area, finding the hammock she wanted. Ian observed it, thinking the box wasn’t all that big as he slid it off the shelf to be carried. Noticing the swing set she mentioned, he gazed at it for a few moments. “Get it now,” he suggested, “if it comes in a box we can fit it in the SUV and I’ll put it together tomorrow. Do you want it?”

“Do we have room for it in the car?” she questioned as one of the store employees came up to them, obvious that he was a fan of either her or Ian. Smiling she glanced back at Ian. “Why don’t you go check out the little baby pools, might as well do this all in one shot.” she turned back to the guy asking about the swing who got some help and pulled it from the back. It came in a box and they said they could help put it in the car so it would fit. Nodding she asked them to bring it up front and that she would pay for it as soon as she found her husband. The boy then asked for an autograph and Nina quickly found a piece of paper and pen and quickly signed her name before thanking him again and turning and heading to find Ian. Seeing the back of him she headed up to him. “Did you pick one out?” she asked from behind him.

Listening with a proud grin as his wife commanded everything in a matter of five minutes, sending everyone a text message and ordering dinner from one of the restaurants in the city. “Look at you go,” he mused, “mama’s got it all under control. Impressive.” Giving her hand a gentle squeeze before agreeing to her suggestion. “I could defiantly go for some good wine,” he admitted, “we’ll get some after we pick up this hammock.” Pulling into the parking lot, he turned off the ignition and slid out of the drivers seat. Ian was actually very excited to purchase this hammock, grabbing Nina’s hand and leading her into the store, his excitement that of a little boy pumped up for new toys.

“Well I’m very good at bossing people around and such.” she rolled her eyes. “No really I love planning things. So it’s easy for me to get all that stuff going and such.” shes shrugged. “I mean think if I can do all of that in five minutes imagine what I could do in an hour.” she laughed. “Wine sounds really good right about now, especially since I haven’t had anything to drink in almost nine months.” she sighed. Grabbing his hand as she got out of the car she noticed people immediately noticing them. “We aren’t gonna let them bother us right?” she raised an eyebrow. She didn’t want her husband in a sour mood like he had almost been earlier. Walking into the store she headed back to the out door stuff and immediately found all the stuff. “We should get one of those too one day.” she said pointing to the very large porch swing. “For the back porch, curl up on it late at night and look at the stars, when we don’t feel like being on the hammock.”

“Well I’m going to try to say no more often,” he decided, “I love our baby girl but I will not let her turn into a little brat.” Reaching the car, he opened the passenger door and assisted his wife inside before gliding over to the drivers side. Once inside the SUV, Ian buckled his seatbelt and started the car before taking Nina’s hand. “I guess I’m just a push over when it comes to my girls,” he admitted, pulling out of the parking lot and onto the main road. “You should text our mothers and let them know what we’re doing,” he commented, “and I know you wanted to cook for my sister tonight but what if we picked up food instead? Ask them what they want so we can just relax tonight, what do you think?”

“You will never know how to say no, not really. You’ll give in.” she laughed. “It’s no big deal, so when she becomes a teenager she’ll hate me but then again all daughters go through that with their mothers.” she shrugged as she grabbed out her phone and sent a text message to her mom, Ian’s mom and Robyn. “I can call that one restaurant I should be able to get them to make a dinner for us, so at least it will be better then take out.” she offered. Dialing the number she called and said who she was and the said they could pick up the food in about 45 minutes. Tossing her phone into her small bag she pulled her legs up onto the seat so she could be curled up. “So that’s all set. Just go pick up a few things and then we can head home. Maybe we should pick up some nice wine too, for dinner.”

“Alright then let’s go get one,” he smiled, helping her to her feet before standing up himself. Taking her hand in his he led them both to the car while she talked about Ella and the pool. “Well I already knew she was just like her mother,” he mused, knowing that their daughter was the spitting image of her mother but with her father’s eyes. Ian frowned when Nina commented about always being the bad guy. “Honey that’s not true,” he commented, “she does not think you’re the bad guy, she loves her mama like crazy.”

Standing up she pulled her sweater around her tighter and grabbed Ian’s hand as they made it back to the car. “Babe, it’s no big deal. I’ve come to accept the fact that whatever she wants or what she doesn’t get from me easily she is gonna go over my head and come to you.” she knew how the daddy’s girl role worked. “I know she loves me Ian, but face it. When it comes down to it, if I tell her no or do something to piss her off she is going to come running for you. I’m already destined to be the bad guy, I’ve accepted it.”

“Let’s go buy a hammock now and then I’ll put it together and we can relax in the backyard tonight,” he offered, “I really want us to cuddle tonight.” Her idea was very well received and he wasn’t sure why they didn’t have a hammock yet. “She loves the bath, I’m sure she has more fun with mommy though,” he chuckled, “I don’t know why she loves the water so much but it’s fine. Our little water lily. Im not looking forward to her learning to swim and never wanting to get out of the pool; it will be like pulling teeth.”

“If you want we can go do that, it’s still early enough to do that.” she said finally opening her eyes and looking at her husband. “I can handle cuddling, that much I can do.” she nodded. “I know why she loves water, it’s because of me. She must get it after me. I loved being in the water when I was younger, I was in the pool for hours at a time till I was practically falling asleep and they had to drag me out.” she chuckled. “You are right it will be like pulling teeth, and her daddy can be the one to drag her out, we already know mommy is the bad guy 99 percent of the time so you can be the bad guy when it comes to that.” It was true, Ella already turned to Ian when she wanted something so she knew Nina would be seen as the bad guy.

“I’m sorry,” he sighed, “you know I worry about everything even when deep down I know they’ll be fine.” Ian didn’t know why he constantly worried but he did, however it was due to him caring so much. “Ella loves the water,” he chuckled, “you should have a bath with her sometime, I’m sure she’d love that. My girls,” he smiled, “and now I have a little man to teach all good stuff too.”

“Hey. I worry too, you aren’t the only one.” she said quietly. “But you are right they will be fine.” she slowly closed her eyes again as she felt the swing moving back and forth only the tiniest amount. “We should get a hammock or a bigger swing for us to sit or lay in when the kids are older we can cuddle in there and just watch them run around.” she smiled at the thought. “Then again that won’t be happening for a few years but still it’s nice to dream.” she laughed. “I do take baths with her, I just don’t like to bathe as long as she does.” she shook her head. “We are gonna have so much trouble with her in the pool, you know that right?”
